The ground items still need work, but the clouds take my breath away every time I see them. I can't believe how awesome of a weather system Nintendo came up with, and then wasted it on low resolution clouds. Take a look:
Sometimes I forget how much love this game needed in the beginning. It almost feels wrong that I haven't completed enough to share yet, but I want to make sure you have the chance to see some of what this game can look like. These are some older textures I did, but I'm not sure if I ever shared them before.

While working on the heart piece, I decided to work on a few of the closeup textures. Today we have Link's Bracer and Chain-mail.
As some have pointed out, there are times where working a lot of detail into a smaller texture can create a sort of 'glitter' effect during motion. While I do what I can to reduce it, there are times (such as this chain-mail) where it is unavoidable. I had to make a choice between better close-up shots, or better distance visibility, I chose close-ups. When getting closer to a release I may make a scaled down version for those who don't like the glisten. (Although this effect can be reduced with higher anti-aliasing, but that takes more computational power) Sometimes I'll jump around and do something fun to keep it from getting repetitive... today it was RED HOT MAGMA. ... Uploaded a video to let you see the animation. Look for the original screenshot in the Screenshots section. I just updated to site to have the blog on the main page. This puts the most up to date content on the landing page, and makes it more in line with other blogs. I will still be updating other areas of the site, but at a slower rate. The blog is the first and best way to get updates.
That said, here is a newer WIP on the wolf texture: In the past I focused a lot of my effort on the backdrops. Characters, although they get a lot of screen time, aren't usually front and center, so it wasn't a large priority to have them finished. I decided that as I start to rev up the engine again I decided to see what I could do about the characters. As I continue to post more pictures please remember that I'm going for an 'improved original' look. I don't want to drastically change the style of the game, so many of my changes will be subtle, usually just increasing resolution, or reducing blur. Here is about 4 hours of work on a single texture. It will probably take about 10 more to get it finished.
Anyone who's followed my blog in the past, you may not expect timely updates. But I assure you, I have not abandoned this project. I'm now in a better position to create content than I could in the past so without promising when you'll see updates, I'll just start posting more screenshots. Yes this is new content, no I don't have a timeline.
I won't deny that I do take things slow here. But that's not just me being lazy. I wanted to give you an example. I just spent a solid 45 minutes working on ONE TEXTURE. Here's that texture for you to citicize: The new version (on the right) is 8 times larger than the one on the left (blown up for comparison) click them to see them larger. As you can see, I'm not just twirling my thumbs. These things take time. I don't work every day, and I don't update every day I work, but progress is happening.
So recently, I put up a Survey on the homepage. I like to hear from you guys because it lets me know where to focus. Here's a recent comment: "You have by far the highest quality and most polished textures, but they aren't quite as accurate to the original as the other project I've seen." I find this interesting because, although I do have older textures from before I made this resolve, I do strive to have textures that are as close to the originals as possible. If you find that a texture isn't up to par, please point it out to me, because I will redo it. I keep my project files for each texture intact so I can edit or redo any file. Until then, Please enjoy these textures that I'm proud of: (Probably gonna redo that first one, it looks too good)
